I enjoyed this story of rock'n'roll and love called CULT OF THE VAMPIRE. Iva Stelmak who stars as Xandra makes this movie special. She has that charisma so few actors/ actresses have today. I looked her up on IMDb and see she hasn't been in much. Hollywood needs to call her and get her into some of their big budget films. Forget Jennifer Lawrence, Scarlett Johansson, Anne Hathaway and the rest Hollywood's chosen. I want to see Iva Stelmak in more films. I'm not the only one here seeing her star power!

Cult of the Vampire is a creative and refreshing tale that weaves an engaging story of love and music. Great acting from the leads; Iva Stelmak absolutely kills it as Xandra and Megan Porter who plays Camille, her metamorphosis is maybe the best I've seen in vampire films. The story is unique and engaging, filmed in Paris and Los Angeles and balanced by an amazing music soundtrack that carries you through this film. The film could have been longer and and the end could have been drawn out a bit more, but I understand many Indie film stay around 80 minutes. It's refreshing to see a female led story and production hit so many positive notes, risky for any filmmaker in the underground of our male dominated Hollywood.

It's funny how you come across entertainment today. In the old days we would go to the theater and watch what we thought from the movie posters to be our best choice. Sometime the posters were better than the movie, sometime not. Lately all the media hype and trailers talk up and push entertainment to us and I have to admit, I think the trailers are rubbish. They just tell the story in 90 seconds and show everything they can to suck you in. Cult of the Vampire doesn't have a "Hollywood" trailer. It is a teaser trailer that shows a few scenes and for me that made me want to dish out the rental fee to watch it and I am glad I did. I rated it 8 stars because it won me over in many ways... a no "Star" cast that was powerful, the music was better than big Hollywood can ever do and the story was refreshingly unique and the naturalness of the subject matter was key for me to like a modern Vampire film. They made it real, believable and great entertainment.

I got a chance to watch this film last week and decided I'd write a little review here. Don't really review things but I figured maybe it's time to start support the film I find that I like since Hollywood has been oh so disappointing of late. CULT OF THE VAMPIRE is a independent film with no famous stars but it is potent and powerful in its message of Love. I think the lesbian girlfriend angles and the music world really define this film in a real and modern way. It's been done before; Vampires as rock stars, but not as good as in CULT OF THE VAMPIRE. These songs are way better than any music soundtrack I have come across. Sadly I can't seem to find this artist Cat Tasso other them one song on Itunes "I Burn" which I did buy. Hopefully she will release the other tunes for the world to enjoy. The music played an integral part in the story and the helped create the vibe, it really made the whole film work. As far as the cast, I though the leads were great. Iva Stelmak and Megan Porter were perfectly cast and had a chemistry that made the relationship feel real. I think the art direction was great. The cinematography was amazing at times but not always. The story sucked me in and before I knew it, the film ended. I wanted it to go on. Maybe a tad short in length but for me it's a tell tale sign of good filmmaking when it flies. I hate sequels but I think this film could go somewhere and tell a new story and if it does I hope they use the same cast. This is a very good film. 8 stars from me!

*** This review may contain spoilers*** First I want to say that I am a lover of everything Vampire so I may be unfair in my comments and opinions. I do love this film and it made me fall in love with Iva Stelmak. She was perfectly cast as Xandra in this story. There's a charisma that she has that transcends the screen… a star quality that is missing in many of today's Hollywood movie stars. This film is an independent film with no big stars… it's doesn't need them. The cinematography is stylized, shot in black and white and in color, the soundtrack is reminiscent of PJ Harvey with a grunge rock sound that complements and balances the story, I found many of the song lyrics seem to be written like they are part of the script. CULT OF THE VAMPIRE is a love story, a story of chasing your pursuits… of making your life and existence matter. If I were a Vampire I would go surfing at night too! She is taken on the streets of Paris and ends up in a coven in Los Angeles that is loosely controlled by Cairo a man whose existence is nothing more than loneliness and playing chess with no one. His jealous counter parts; Drago, Ivy and Vera pursue Xandra with nefarious intentions that force Xandra to sacrifice her freedom for love. I won't share the outcome...go rent it and see if you agree with me… I see this film becoming a cult classic!

I don't usually do these reviews, but wanted to say a a few good things about this movie. I am super into Vampires, everything and anything Vampire. This movie tells a tale that's totally believable... I love it! It's nice to see a normal betrayal of these beautiful creatures and stunning they are... Iva Stelmak and Megan Porter are cast perfectly for this story. The film is definitely more art-house than horror. Stylized with flashbacks and some metaphoric scenes; the purple heart (love), a flower floating by in water casting a dark shadow in tow. The scenes go from black and white in Paris, dull color in Los Angeles. The music rocked and was another element that connected me and made this movie engaging. Love the songs, the vibe, the emotions the lyrics and melody play. Made me feel in touch with Xandra. Hopefully they make a sequel, would love to see Xandra and Camille back in action.

I am a lover of everything about Vampires and have much experience with the legends from my homeland. I think this film "Cult of the Vampire" did a good job telling an interesting story but I think the best part was the lead actress Iva Stelmak. She was very powerful and convincing in her role as Xandra. I am happy this film was made. I watched the film a second time with my roommate and it was just as good a second time.

Do you like Beautiful Vampires and Great Music? If so this one is for you! "Great Indie Vampire flick! The lead actress Iva Stelmak was stunning in the lead role as Xandra. The casting for this movie was right on spot! The soundtrack was great and flowed accented and complimented the film. the story line grabs you and keeps you interested, generally speaking most vampire movies are pretty predictable. This one was not. Even though it has a lot of new faces this movie is a great surprise. Definitely worth watching!

Excellent new Vampire film just when I was getting frustrated with the lack of Vampire films being produced. This film gets extra kudos for the lesbian lovers, the soundtrack, Iva Stelmak, for the story starting in Paris and coming to America, for lead FEMALE power roles. I am a huge Vampire fan and this movie filled the void. Please make another one!

Art-house Euro styled horror film with a good no-name cast. The lead actresses; Iva Stelmak and Megan Porter are perfectly cast and bring depth to their characters. The music makes this film more powerful because the lyrics tell the story as well as the dialog and actions. Pacing is fast and not predictable. It has a "Cult Classic" vibe for us Vampire aficionado's. "Cult of the Vampire" is on my list now as one of the better Vampire films the last few years.

Happy I found this new Vampire film online. Lesbian loving Vampires, Rock'N'Roll with a beautiful talented cast. I thought Iva Stelmak and Megan Porter where especially excellent. When the opening scene showed Xandra night surfing I knew this was a unique story, and I liked how it showed Vampires still having passion for an existence versus just feeding on people.

CULT OF THE VAMPIRE brings a refreshing look at Vampires and has a powerful cast with the leads Iva Stelmak and Megan Porter firmly rooting themselves as strong lead actresses in his fantasy horror story. I am not a fan of sequels but I'd like to suggest to the producers to consider continuing this story. I truly believe more can be told with this wonderful cast in tow and where the story went to. Thank you for a passionate film with two strong leading ladies making this great entertainment.

Xandra (Iva Stelmak) is a rebellious vampire who ignores her own kind to be with Camille (Megan Porter) and play in an all girl rock band. The coven doesn't like it, threatens her with bad Romanian accents and works to disrupt her life as punishment in the nights of LA.

The music was performed by Cat Tasso. There is clearly a Concrete Blonde influence in the style of music, the location, lead singer, and of course vampires as their big album was "Blood Letting." Comparisons to the band in the film were made to Zeppelin and Hendrix as was Concrete Blonde in real life. They could have just compared them to Concrete Blonde instead of pretending they never existed. At times I felt I was watching a video, which was a good thing because the drama aspect was not great. Acting was so-so.

The dialogue was metaphorically poetic at times. "You are out of reach of the hand of the clock." They seemed to have saved all those types of lines for the French vampire. The band members did not look like they were playing their instruments, but then again I don't think even Michael Nesmith cares anymore. What wasn't filmed in black and white contained scenes with little color with blonde being the stand out. The film had potential to be a cult classic, but feel short in script and a few actors. Peter J. Morton who starred in "Ciaron, the Demon Hunter" and was awful in it, ruined the character Drago in this feature. The man can't act, stop putting him in front of the camera. Phil Pritchard was miscast.

Cult type film not for everyone.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

My girlfriend loves this movie.. think it's a chick movie, but I dug it. Has a cool vibe, stylish Indie cool music, hot actresses that were talented.. rare thing today with these Indie films... Most of the American ones suck.. part of this film was shot in France and a lot of the cast is foreign so maybe this is an international production. When there's Vampires we end up renting no matter what... Cause we are Vampire fanatics... 7 Stars... better for woman... because it's a chick film.

Found this film online and after seeing the cover and trailer we decided to rent it. To be honest I wasn't expecting much. I liked what I saw from the trailer which was really nothing more than a splice of two scenes. Definitely not a real trailer. The movie starts out in an interesting way and hooked me during the opening credits with a great soundtrack. It sucked us me in. I guess you could say if you don't like the music, you might not like the movie as much, because there's a lot of music in it and in it's story. Acting was solid, really liked the leads actresses, another big plus for me! They made we want to stay engaged. The film could have done more with the scenes / story, I liked the ending which is why I gave it 8 stars. Could have been a little longer, seems pretty short. I definitely enjoyed this Vampire story.
