Gotländska Sandkorn (which translates to something like Grains of Sand from Gotland) is a series of four short films shot in Sweden on the island of Gotland in the Baltic. But everything began with the meeting between the director Kave Raufi and the screenwriters Nils Florby and 'Henrik Andersson' in Gothenburg. During that time these four unpretentious short films that all magnify common phenomena in ordinary life were first conceived. The stories are narrated in an amusing and simple way and are meant to be easily available for all languages and different cultures. Because of this there is next to no dialogue at all in the films, and when something is uttered it's likely to be only something like a grunt, a shout, a puff or a huff. When the director together with the writers came up with the films they focused on simple stories that could be told by simple means. During production they experimented with different narrative styles to make the plots both exciting and satisfying to watch.
