All the compelling earmarks of the series are present even if the premise is shopworn. Thuggish ex-con Stone wants revenge on Pete for helping send him up. So Pete's got to get him first, which becomes a real problem once Stone grabs Edie. I love that flower shop scene with the owner (Hoyt) who looks like he should be selling brass knuckles instead of roses. This is the kind of imaginative casting that helped carry the series. Then there's hotel manager Specs (Collier) who appears to be running a Club Med for murder that I guess is supposed to be comedy relief. Also, catch the many imaginative camera angles. The series never filmed in impersonal manner, thus keeping the most hackneyed story from slipping into boredom. Good to see songstress Edie get a set-up, and the arch snob Leslie (Lanphier) a few snooty lines. No, the entry's nothing special, but is still full of flavor in typical Gunn fashion.

As with most episodes Peter Gun handles himself with with unnerving style and gets the girl in the end. One notable hiccup... In the opening scene Stone enters a waiting car, there he proceeds to pickup a standard looking telephone hand set and call Peter Gunn.
